My heart has never been so full to be there for someone on their wedding day as it was for Chris and Suzannah. Our story together has a longer history than most of my couples. I met Chris 5 years ago while we were both living in Hawaii. He was there the day I met my now husband, he probably knew before I did that I was in love. We have been adventure buddies, we've understood and both continued to live Aloha back on the mainland, and we have supported one another as we've found our 'people' who we want to spend the rest of our lives with. Chris is someone I pay the true and deep compliment of calling him a true friend.

Chris was kind enough to jump both feet first and help us with our wedding when we asked him to officiate our ceremony. Looking back, I couldn't imagine that day without him. Two days after our ceremony in Ireland, I had the chance to begin my repayment to him, when we went to the Cliffs of Moher. Chris lead Suzannah out to the windy bluff of the cliffs, handed her a love letter, and got down on one knee. She said yes, and the story of the four of us will be forever entwined.

Six months later, I found myself flying to Michigan for the first time to be at Chris and Suzannah's rehearsal dinner. They planned, ordered, coordinated, invited, and loved their way through a quick 6 month planning period and we were all finally there, at the Downtown Market in Grand Rapids and they were tying the knot. I absolutely had to fight back tears through the ceremony performed by Suzannah's uncle, I loved the look on their family and friends' faces as they presented cords for their Hand Fasting ceremony, and I was enraptured by the INCREDIBLE friends that surrounded them on the most special of days.

Chris and Suzannah were just too gorgeous at their wedding, so they allowed me to kidnap them the day after and we drove north to the Silver Lake Sand Dunes where a. I was shocked by the diverse terrains we found in Western Michigan and b. we got to laugh, explore, (and twirl) as Chris and Suzannah really got to take the time together to enjoy their weekend, live and love in their wedding clothes a day longer, and make memories they can hold on to for the rest of their lives.

These kids are gonna make it for the long haul. They are so full of love and commitment and faith. I know they will be the relationship I turn to to remember what is important in my marriage and where we all began: between the mountains and the sea.
